SLIMIVICH is the eclectic new sonic expression of barely suppressed rage, from seasoned Ōtautahi Christchurch heavy music journeymen “Slim” Jenkins and Mo Galloway of TAINTED infamy.
An entirely new direction for these veterans of the New Zealand heavy music scene, owing much to a life long live of Hip Hop Hardcore Punk and Downbeat Electronic beats, SLIMIVICH doesn’t explode, instead it radiates and crackles with all the allure of overloaded high voltage circuits, glowing and arcing in the dark. Layering slick lyrical licks over the relentless punishment of pounding drums, searing synth and grueling bass, SLIMIVICH seeks to explore the varying textures of what should be considered “heavy” music.
The initial release of singles ‘Desert Shimmer’ and the darker ‘Hysteria’ in 2022 grabbed new listeners by the throat offering a taste of the new direction the project was headed before ambushing unsuspecting punk, rock metal and hip-hop fans in Ōtautahi Christchurch and Ōtepoti Dunedin through the rest of the year. In 2023 Slimivich offered up the heavier single “Grind” before embarking on the projects first nationwide “Grind Tour” to take the project to the masses. 2024 saw the release of the boys first collaborative piece releasing “Wound Tight in conjunction with fellow Ōtautahi producer THRONG (Aaron Hogg ex. Punmpkin Head & Slim) before hitting Auckland, Takaka, Christchurch, Punk vs Metal and Radfest 2024 to spread the good word.
2025 has seen the boys return to Tamaki Makaurau Auckland and visit Whangarei on the Far North Tiny Tour before settling into tracking for the projects debut album. As you read this the team are preparing to tour the nation once again in November/December as part of the Disciples of Agony tour, stopping in Tamaki Makaurau Auckland, Kirikiriroa Hamilton and Ōtepoti Dunedin, as well as their own breakout shows in Whakatu Nelson and Takaka.
Call it alternative or experimental, call it industrial, or even GRIM-HOP, fans new and old will not fail to be impressed by this reinterpretation of the same venom spitting Slim they came to know and love, or hate.
Remember the name SLIMIVICH - No Chill.
“Yes this is hip hop, but not like your cool cousin listens to – fans of both Skinny Puppy and Wu-Tang will both be well served here.”

LATEST SINGLE - WOUND TIGHT
LISTEN NOW
The first in a series of collaborations between Otautahi Grim-Hop projects SLIMIVICH and THRONG, "Wound Tight" vibrates with hip hop, downbeat and and ambient influences, expressesing a deep need to commune with the natural world through intense physical exertion in an effort to achieve quiet in a mind wound tight by the trials of life in our late capitalist world.
Directed by Luis Castanon - Filmed by Beavan Triebels
Editing & Post Production by Aaron Hogg at Ministry of Aesthetics
HYSTERIA
LISTEN NOW
A significantly darker release, ‘Hysteria’ is a letter to the terminally comfortable. Led on by watery, wandering keys swimming in dark, beckoning bass, Slims lyrics prove he is content to play villain if only to get a point across. Becoming the voice of the worst type of hysteria, he goads both those who from armchair profess the world is slipping into an inevitable moral decay as well as those who would like to pretend that all is well. Daring one to embrace the hysteria fueling their desire for some perceived lost golden age while chiding the other to pay attention to the growing chaos in others around them, Hysteria ends with a warning of what will result if hysteria left to go unchecked, the loss of all that made their lives whole and comfortable in the first place.
GRIND
LISTEN NOW
Contrasting growling bass and abrasive guitar driven verses drenched in digtal rain, with caramelly smooth bouncing chorus, Slimivich welcomes you to the Grind.
Where if you were just a little tougher, invested a little more hard yakka, kept your head a down a little lower, emptied your family bank account out and saddled up with debt, you too could enjoy the fruits of the kiwisaver depleted, first home grant diminished, minor bank of mum and dad investments tapped, drained away, hope never another rainy day dream.

DESERT SHIMMER
LISTEN NOW
“…it is rap/hip-hop being taken in a new direction… there is something about this song which is strangely compelling. Most of that is down to the musical soundscapes he pits his vocals against, as this is Krautrock combined with industrial elements, and his lyrics are delivered in a somewhat slower style than many rappers and this combination creates something different, almost unsettling, which grabs the listener.”
